The 9 Routes Pilgrimage

Brigid’s Way has a special pilgrimage opportunity for 2026. The 9 routes will be led by Firekeeper Siobhán Madden and others along the way, over 9 months.

We will walk a different route each month starting from Faughart in February and ending in Brigid’s Fire Temple in October.

This opportunity will suit those who may not otherwise have a 9 day block to do the whole pilgrimage during the usual summer dates.

Join us for one day or all nine days

You may chose to walk one day, a few or all 9 routes. If you book all 9 you will receive a 10% discount.  If you book all 9 and are unable to attend one, you may gift your place to a friend for that route.

Each route is €25.00 for this guided journey along this Brigid’s ancient pilgrimage path which includes storytelling, ceremony and ritual.

There will be guest ceremonalists on some of the routes honouring this unique element of Brigid’s Way at the many sacred sites and wells.

The timings for each day are 10am-4pm (unless otherwise stated) and details will be confirmed in an email closer to the time.

There we walk across this vast meadow with sheep gazing & horses racing before we enter the outskirts of Kildare town.

Practical Preparation

It is important to consider what to bring. We are encouraging people to travel lightly.

Bag Weight
Carry NO more than 10% of your body weight around 6kg – 8kg. Aim for lightweight non bulky clothes that can be layered.
Clothes
Lightweight trousers, shorts, or skirts (Skorts) and leggings are best for walking. Lightweight tops with long sleeves are also useful, as both cool and can provide protection from the sun.
Rain & sun gear
A lightweight fleece, waterproof pull up trousers and jacket and also a sun hat. This is Ireland, and we can experience four seasons in one day!
Walking shoes, boots or walking sandals?
Be sure whatever you choose to walk in are supportive and breathable – it is essential that they are well worn in. Good socks that are lightweight and also breathable are as important as the shoes.
Bag size
Rucksack – small – consider the best size to carry for our 5 days walking – one that has chest and waist straps that will make it easier on your back to carry and walk with.
Essential Items
Only bring what you need avoid heavy books or cameras as they can become unnecessary weight to carry and might distract from the mindfulness of the pilgrimage.
