Josh Crosbie met different Brigid’s Way Firekeepers along the route and interviewed them for Sarah McKenna’s show on Newstalk for Brigid’s Day. He met Karen at the Cathedral, Kildare; Dolores in Faughart; Padraig in Dundalk; and Bébhinn by the River Boyne at Slane.

Imbolc: The Fire Within (RTE Player)

As Ireland celebrates St Brigid’s Day, this film celebrates the Celtic festival of Imbolc, which marks the rebirth of the earth, between the winter solstice and spring equinox. Dr. Karen Ward introduces the meanings and relevance of this indigenous Celtic Festival today.

RTE’s new television programme ‘All Walks of Life’ began in 2020 where former President of Ireland Mary MacAleese walks with a different person each episode. She particularly asked to include Brigid’s Way Celtic Pilgrimage and here she joins Debbie Somorin on Day 1 of Brigid’s Way – Faughart to Dundalk. Co-founders Dr Karen Ward and Dolores Whelan were delighted to meet them at Sally Cox’s Lisnawilly Desmense at the end of their pilgrimage.

Here is a video of the incredible Carrying Her Flame Procession of Light and Fire at the Celtic Festival of Imbolg including the Brigid’s Way pilgrims at this magical Kildare County Council and Brigid 1500 event created with the magnificent wild vision of LuXe landscape theatre.

Hundreds of wide eyed children and awe struck people from all walks of life paraded around the Market Square and down part of the Brigid’s Way Celtic Pilgrimage Day 9 route in a glorious procession of Fire and Light to magnificent firey finale.
